Armenian merchants came to the King Tabinshwehti of
Taunggoo with presents.
As Armenian had fed a few Myanmar refugees and made presents
four or five muskets to King Alaungpaya, he expressly
allowed them except fortifications under the treaty.
When Singu (1776–1782 A.D.) was attacked, the king’s
Armenian captain was speared.
Lingchoten’s remark about Christian indicates that
Armenians from Bago, some of them may have been
intermarriage with the people of Bago. It was an Armenian
who supplied funds for the building of Thanlyin church.
The Yangon Armenian church calendar shows that they first
came to Myanmar in 1612 and they dwelt in Thanlyin and their
first tombstone is dated 1725 A.D.
Many travelers to Myanmar usually go to Thanlyin to see
the Armenian’s tombstone.
