Myitkyina is the capital of the Kachin State in Myanmar. The city has a population of approximately 150,000. It lies on the west bank of the Ayeyarwady River, just below 26 miles from Myitson or the confluence of its two headstreams; the N-Maikha and Malikha rivers. Ayeyarwaddy, the most useful river in Myanmar has its source from "Myit Sone" and flows 1325 miles from north to south of Myanmar.
It is the northern most railway terminal, 919 miles from Yangon, 487 miles from Mandalay. Myitkyina and its environs emerged with its different indigenous ethnic nationals, and their cultures remain unspoiled, exotic and original.
