ITT 101 Yangon Stopover

  • Detail Program

Yangon (formerly known as Rangoon) was once a small fishing village perched on a river bank. All through its history, it remains the most important pilgrimage site for the Buddhist devotees. The glittering gold spire of the Shwedagon pagoda on Thainguttara Hill rests on a hidden chamber of treasures surmounted by the eight hairs of the Buddha. The glory of these holy relics is symbolized in the grandeur of the shrine and its magnificence is unmatched in the world. The golden regalia of the last Myanmar kings that represent the nation's impression could also be seen at the National Museum. Beautiful lakes, lush green vistas, old buildings in colonial days with old buses are at your glance. Today Yangon becomes the important commercial city of Myanmar.
