Monywa

King Sawlu (1077 –1084) built two pagodas called
Shwesawlu, one of them at Myogyi village in Monywa district.
Shwedang – U pagoda was built in Monywa by King Alaungsithu.
King Narapatisithu built Zedihla pagoda in Monywa.
Among the Myanmar commanders, Maung Yit was the most
famous. He who was a handsome man of fine presence was born
about 1780 at Ngapeyin village in Monywa district.
Powindaung Hill in Monywa is one of the famous ancient
sites.
Monywa is about 136 km distance from the west of
Mandalay. It is important for the trade and commerce for
Chindwin Valley and environs. There are many places to
